V-Moda to Unveil Some Seriously Cool Headphones in 2012

It’s no surprise, we dig V-Moda. We aren’t enamored enough to call ourselves fanboys, but with the way the company continues to pump out stunning designs and absolutely amazing headphones, we might just have to. The latest announcement from the company pledges a whole new line of headphones emerging in the coming year, though this line actually has another line tucked inside it. Confused yet? Don’t worry, we’ll explain.

The signature pair of over-ear headphones the company will be unleashing in 2012 will be named the Crossfade LP Custom, and by all indications, they’re going to be quite nice. The padding looks rather luxurious, and we love the angled design of the earcaps. No word yet on what colors the cans will come stock with, but we’re guessing at least white and black.

However, the real kicker here is the “custom” part of the name. You see, the earcaps on these puppies are completely replaceable. Sure, you’re saying, that’s nothing new at all! We’ve seen this in so many other cans it’s not even new anymore. Right you are, which is why V-Moda has upped the ante by allowing you to customize the ear caps during the checkout procedure. Yes, you heard that right. You’ll have free reign to add your name to the caps, swap out the image for a custom logo, modify the colors to meet your own personal style, or any other such combination that suits your fancy. All in all, we’re looking at a seriously stunning amount of potential here, and we can’t wait to hit the V-Moda checkout up with our own, custom-tailored designs.

Best of all? You won’t spend an arm-and-a-leg on these cans, either. The Crossfade LP Customs will retail at a singularly decent $199, which for this level of customization is something of a miracle. We’re stoked silly about it, and if our sources tell us right, V-Moda has spent a lot of time perfecting the sound quality of these over-ears. We haven’t got any specifics yet to talk about (no diaphragm angling or driver statistics) but as soon as we know more, we’ll pass it along to you.

Overall, if you’ve been needing yet another reason to be excited about 2012 where headphone manufacturing is concerned, we hope the Crossfade LP Customs are it. V-Moda set the bar high enough with 2011’s releases, leaving us with wicked high expectations for this year’s models. As always, we’ll be sure to pass along a full review when we have a pair of Crossfade LP Customs in hand and rolling alongside our amplifier.
