Here we are with yet another week rolling around, and yet another set of headphone reviews and news to be pursued. In terms of entertainment, this past week surely wasn’t lacking, what with the whole Super Bowl game occurring on Sunday: We’re betting you never heard of that, though. Despite the flashy commercials and Madonna half-time show where she sported some really cool driving gloves, it appears there was more going on behind the scenes at that event, including some headphone news, believe it or not. We’ll be covering that below, alongside some entertaining releases from a galaxy far, far away. It’s all beyond the break, and no matter how your week has been thus far, we’re sure you’ve got the time to check out the latest in headphone trends and news. Starting with:
Star Wars:The Old Republic Headphones Hit Market
We don’t know how we missed this announcement from a few months ago, but either way, it appears a Lucasfilm-branded pair of cans has just hit the market. On the heel’s of the MMO’s massive release last year, Razer has deemed it necessary to produce a custom set of over-ear headphones for the game. The end result is the Star Wars: The Old Republic Gaming Headset. This stellar looking pair of cans screams everything science fiction, with an angular construction, deep grays, and unique insignias on the earcaps. However, the $129.99 price tag might scare off all but the most dedicated of fans. For that money, though, you’ll get one chic set of cans, including a jutting near-mouth mic designed to help gamers chat it up during the game. All in all, audio performance seems to be decent, though for the list price, we might have liked a bit higher quality. The split rocker controls for the headset and your gaming tunes is a neat addition, but again, is it enough to warrant the high cost upfront? We’re tended to say “No!” but then again, signature equipment can be a real incentive in these cases. Hell, just look at the Snooki headphones that are destined to hit market soon. We’ll let you guys be the deciding factor in this case.
The Giants Lost Because of Their Headphones
In case you weren’t up to speed, the Giants beat the Patriots this week-end during the Super Bowl. However, it hasn’t kept them complaining about their headphone quality. Apparently, there were a few missed calls during the game, most of which the team has decided to blame on Madonna. The idea is that the frequency of the headphones was interrupted by all the equipment Madonna used for her performance. We haven’t got a clue if this is true or not, but either way, we highly doubt Eli Manning is complaining, what with that ring on his finger. Again, we’ll let you be the judge in this case, as we simply haven’t got all the facts—except that the Giants better watch out next year for a rematch!
