Ferrari Headphones Race to the Market

Ferrari Headphones Race to the Market

With all of the hub-bub at CES, we expected to see a lot of new celebrity endorsed headphones heading to the market here in the first quarter of 2012—and we weren’t disappointed. (Have we mentioned how much we hate the Snooki brand headphones?) But what we didn’t expect was for car and automobile legend Ferrari to dip its luxuriously posh hand into the stereo headphones mix. But as sure as the sky is blue (unless you live in Seattle) you can expect to see a whole range of iPod docks, stereos and headphones loaded for bear in the coming year.

Fittingly, it appears the automotive legend has branched its product lines into two unique categories: First and foremost, there’s the Cavallino collection, which comes loaded to the gills with a heap of soft leather—you can choose between either beige or black—and brushed metal, casually evoking the feel of a high-end Ferrari sitting on your night stand, rather than in your garage. The second pairing has been dubbed Scuderia, and instead offers a brighter red finish that evokes a Formula One motif, rather than a rich-as-hell expression. And, of course, you’ll find the famous prancing horse logo splashed across both collections with tasty abandon.

As far as the docks go, the top of the line Cavallino GT1 speaker set offers 2.1-channel cones with a spacious 6.5-inch subwoofer to bring the bass. You can acquire this bad boy in two flavors, one costing roughly $775, while the other clocks in at a more Home Owner’s Association respectable $900. The latter comes stock with AirPlay, Bluetooth, and bragging rights. The slightly less expensive Scuderia FS1 dock costs only about $500 for the non-Airplay edition, and shirks cold leather for the aforementioned bright red.

When it comes to headphones, the options are much slimmer: Customers can acquire the Scuderia R300 for about $400, with the Cavallino T350 coming in at just a tad higher. Again, both feature each collection’s signature look. As far as we know, both headphones come with noise-cancelling abilities, as well as an over-ear headphone design. No word yet on the in-ears that are promised to arrive a bit later, but if your interest has been piqued, you can snag a pair of either dock or cans starting in April of 2012.

We’re hoping this ushers in a new wave of products and lines for manufacturer Logic3, whom Ferrari licensed out to produce the headphones. As always, you can expect a full report as soon as we know something worth sharing.
